Galicia's leading wine competition recognises the craftsmanship and excellence of Vía Romana.17 July 2026
Some awards represent far more than a trophy. They reflect years of dedication, an unwavering commitment to the land, and a philosophy of winemaking founded on excellence.
We are delighted to share news that fills us with pride: Vía Romana Añada Mencía 2025 has been awarded the Acio de Ouro as the Best Red Wine in Galicia 2026 at the 38th Catas de Galicia, the region's most prestigious wine competition, organised by the Xunta de Galicia.
Each year, the Catas de Galicia brings together the finest wines from Galicia's Designations of Origin. This year's competition featured 462 wines from 152 wineries, all assessed through a blind tasting by a distinguished panel of highly respected wine experts.
Receiving the competition's highest honour confirms Vía Romana's position among Galicia's leading wineries and recognises the dedication, expertise and passion invested over many years—from the vineyard to the bottle.
This award is the result of the commitment of everyone at Adegas e Viñedos Vía Romana, the care and dedication of our growers, and our ongoing pursuit of wines that authentically express the unique character of Ribeira Sacra.
It also strengthens our determination to continue pursuing excellence, respecting our origin, and embracing continuous improvement as the foundations of everything we do.
This achievement would not carry the same meaning without the trust and support of everyone who has accompanied us along the way.
You are an essential part of our journey. Your confidence in Vía Romana helps our wines reach new audiences and new markets every year.
For that, we would like to share this recognition with you and sincerely thank you for your continued support.
Named Best Red Wine in Galicia 2026, Vía Romana Añada Mencía 2025 embodies the essence of Ribeira Sacra—an elegant, refined wine that faithfully reflects one of Spain's most extraordinary wine landscapes.
This distinction reminds us that truly great wines are never created overnight. They are the result of time, respect for the land, and the dedication of many people united by a shared vision.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping us continue to share the essence of Ribeira Sacra with wine lovers around the world.
