The winery introduces new measures such as ramps, elevator and adapted spaces to enhance the wine tourism experience26 March 2026
Since March 2026, Vía Romana Adegas e Viñedos has taken an important step forward in its commitment to inclusive tourism and the continuous improvement of the visitor experience by introducing new accessibility measures across its facilities.
Thanks to the implementation of ramps, an elevator and adapted restrooms, the winery now makes it easier for people with reduced mobility to access key areas. From now on, visitors will be able to comfortably enjoy the shop, the bottling room, the production winery and the terrace — a privileged spot from which to admire the unique landscape of Ribeira Sacra.
Additionally, tastings are now offered in the shop, allowing a wider audience to enjoy the wine tourism experience in an accessible and welcoming environment.
However, due to the characteristics of the heroic viticulture that defines this region — with vineyards arranged on steep terraced slopes — as well as the layout of the barrel room, it is currently not possible to adapt the full guided tour route. This limitation is necessary to preserve both the natural environment and the original structure of the winery.
Even so, visitors can continue to enjoy the wine-growing landscape from the terrace, a space that allows them to connect with the essence of the vineyards and understand the uniqueness of the work carried out there.
“At Vía Romana, we believe wine should be an experience open to everyone. That’s why we continue working to remove barriers and make every visit as inclusive and enriching as possible, without losing our identity or respect for the environment,” says Juan Luis Méndez Rojo, CEO of the winery.
With these improvements, Vía Romana reinforces its commitment to more accessible wine tourism while preserving the authenticity that defines Ribeira Sacra and its unique way of understanding wine.
